Mrs. Corine D. Mathis, 77, of Dallas and formerly of Cartersville passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Wellstar Paulding Nursing Center. Born on December 30, 1932 in Talladega, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Henry Jackson Hughes and the late Willie Florene Crowder Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Mathis, and several brothers and sisters.
Corine was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a minister of the gospel, taught Sunday school, and was known by all to be a good Christian woman.
Survivors include her son, John Mathis of Cartersville; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dennis Rich of Dallas; her grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Terrie Mathis of Cartersville, Lori and Brian Briggs of Cartersville, and Summer Rich of Dallas; her great-grandchildren, Dakota Briggs, Kayla Briggs, and Hailey Mathis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. I.L. Smith and Rev. Dennis Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Briggs, Dakota Briggs, Christopher Mathis, Roger Luke, William Horne Jr., and Daniel Smith. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
