Mr. Coy John "CJ" Cole, 90, of White, passed away Monday, March 17,2025. He was born July 16,1934 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the son of the late Ruth Cole and brother to late Gerald and Landon Cole.
He is preceded in death by his late wife, Virginia Cole and survived by his Fiancẻe, Gloria James, his daughters Cheryl Cole of Atlanta and Carol Scoggins and her husband Greg Scoggins of Cartersville. He also has two Grandchildren, Justin Scoggins of California and Jenna Scoggins of New York and many extended family members.
CJ was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great friend to many. He served in the United States Navy, "Silent Service", and transferred to the Fleet Reserve from active duty after 21 years of service. He served on the first nuclear submarine and in the Korean War. He was also a Parole Officer for the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles for over 10 years.
CJ was a member of the Cartersville church of Christ. He also participated in many organizations and clubs: The American Legion Post 42, Cartersville Moose Lodge and Shriners International where he was presented his Freemason 50 year apron.
He enjoyed hunting, Crappie and Deep Sea fishing and being outdoors feeding the animals and deer that would come into his yard daily.
CJ mentored many people in countless ways through his various careers and throughout his life. His unwavering commitment to his values, family, friends and country is a shining example of what it means to live a life of integrity. His legacy is a testament to the power of living a life of purpose, faith and service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday March 26, 2025 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Cartersville church of Christ with Mr. Bobby Gayton officiating.
Internment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
The Georgia National Cemetery restricts floral arrangements to 3 per site at internment.
