Daniel Barton

Dan Barton, Class of '73, passed away on September 7, 2023 at Brookside Cartersville after a long illness.
He was the star pitcher for the high school baseball team and attended Berry College on a baseball scholarship. His senior year, he was named "Mr. Viking", an honor for Berry's top athlete. After graduation, he worked in the carpet industry in Cartersville and Dalton in manufacturing and chemical sales. Dan loved fishing, golf, playing guitar, and singing. He loved dogs, especially old English Shepards and English Bulldogs.
He was a meticulous carpenter, a skill he learned from his dad, Vinson. His dream was to live at the beach and he did for several years before his illness forced his return to Cartersville.
Dan has two children, Kayli and Zach; three granddaughters, Lydia age 7, Nora age 2 ½, and Lula who is one month old. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Anne Shaw; brother-in-law, Randy; niece, Cortni Cooney; nephew Bart Shaw; great nieces, Catherine Cooney and Anna Barton Shaw; and great nephews, Walker Cooney and Anderson Shaw.
