Daniel Wright

Mr. Daniel �Dan� Wright, age 77, of Rome, GA, died Thursday, October 1, 2009, in a local hospital.



Mr. Wright was born in Atlanta, GA on February 24, 1932, the son of the late Dr. Luther Wright and Louise Jones Wright. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War and received the Korean service medal and the Purple Heart. Mr. Wright attended Armuchee Church of God. He was self-employed for many years doing appliances repairs and prior worked for Floyd County Schools as a mechanic. In addition to his parents Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Hall and two brothers, Bobby Jones Wright and Gary Wright.



Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Doris Hardin Wright of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Becky Wright of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Gary Spann of Rome; four grandchildren, Merecia Thomas and her husband, CWO2 Daniel Thomas of Fort Riley, KS, Geoffrey Spann of Rome, Corey Wright and his fianc�, Sarah Chapman of Rome, and Dylan Wright of Rome; a great-granddaughter, Baylee Wright of Rome; and a sister, Marcia Wood of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life for Mr. Wright will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Izell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with his brother-in-law, Mr. Odell Hall officiating and the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.



The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel on Tuesday by 1:30 P.M.: grandson, Corey Wright, Geoffrey Spann, and Dylan Wright, and nephews, Vincent Ward, Jeff Ward, and Gary Ward. Mr. Odell Hall will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
