Darryl Payton

Mr. Darryl Lee Payton, age 46, of 664 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, GA, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Payton was born in Floyd County, GA on April 25, 1961, the son of Mary Lou Gilphin Payton and the late Edmond D. Payton, Sr. He attended Armuchee High School and graduated from Coosa Valley Technical College. Mr. Payton was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed being with his family and was a wonderful son. Also Mr. Payton enjoyed working on old cars and liked motorcycles. In addition to his father Mr. Payton is preceded in death by two nephews, Jerry Wayne Payton, Jr. and Michael Wayd Payton.

In addition to his mother Mr. Payton is survived by a daughter, Kathy Brown of Rome, GA; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Edmond and Jane Payton, Jr. of Marietta, GA, Gerald and Betty Payton of Gainesville, GA, Dale Payton of Rome, Danny and Carolyn Payton of Powder Springs, GA, and Ricky Payton of Armuchee, GA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Roger Mathis, Diane Payton, and Beth and Alan Ridge all of Armuchee; and a granddaughter, Amanda Brown of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 30, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffery Owen Headrick officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mr. Payton will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at other hours will be at 664 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, GA.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Sunday by 1:30 P.M.: Dewayne Mathis, Eric Mathis, Patrick Ridge, Chris Ridge, Jason Payton, Matt Payton, and Zac Mathis.
