Mr. David H. Gatrel, 54, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Grady Memorial Hospital. Born February 17, 1954 in Bartow County, he was the son of the late Ralph Gatrel and the late Mary Wylene Crane Gatrel. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Justin �Chopper� Gatrel.
David enjoyed driving his tractor and gardening, listening to country music, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was employed with Mohawk in Calhoun and was a member of H.O.G.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gatrel of Cartersville; his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Charlie Hufstetler of Emerson; his grandchildren, Tristian, Haley and Gavin Hufstetler; his brothers, Russel Gatrel of Calhoun and Larry Gatrel of Maysville; and his sister, Sylvia Hess of Kansas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Rocky Abernathy and Rev. Walkie Walraven officiating. Burial will follow in the Shinall Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Bell, T.J. Hawkins, Thomas Glawson, Mike Graff, Ben Stiles, Jeff Wilson, and Joe Lemley. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Caldwell, Tony Posey and Tommy Haygood. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 2 � 4 p.m. and from 6 � 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The family will gladly accept floral contributions, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 North Chase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067.
