David Givens

David Raymond Givens, 64, of Cartersville, passed away on June 9, 2023.

Born on January 16, 1959, in Marietta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Gene and Margie Givens. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Ann Morris Givens.

David is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Janet Routh Givens; son, Brian (Nikki) Morris; granddaughter, Brianna Morris; siblings, Deborah (Steve) Laird, Darrell (Christina Thumma) Givens, and Dwayne (Jennifer) Givens; sisters-in-law, Susan Peppers and Carol (Michael) Sligh; brother-in-law, Kevin (Jeanelle) Routh; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. David also leaves behind his faithful companion, Peanut.

He was a head carpenter for Cobb County Schools for 22 years. He also built custom furniture, including cabinets for individuals in the area.

David was a simple man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed having conversations with anyone he met. David loved to garden and do yardwork; he had a passion for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Chase Elliot. David also loved to sit on his back porch and listen to the birds sing.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Emerson Church with Dr. Chris Weldon officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Emerson Church prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Givens, Dwayne Givens, Caleb Givens, Brian Morris, Steve Laird, and Kevin Routh.
