Mr. David Fain Hazelwood, 85, of Cartersville passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at his residence after an extended illness. Born December 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry Hazelwood and the late Mary Edwards Hazelwood. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Clark, Ioan Hazelwood, Lola Mae Tidwell, and Allie Duvall; his half-sister, Cleo Hazelwood; his brothers, J.W. Hazelwood and Johnny Hazelwood; and his half-brothers, Floyd Hazelwood and Webb Bunch.
A lifelong resident of Cartersville, Mr. Hazelwood was a retired farmer and the retired operator of Cartersville Spinning. He was also a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Hazelwood was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a God-fearing man, loved his church, and loved everybody. Mr. Hazelwood will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Rachel Hazelwood of Cartersville; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Brian Evans of Cartersville; his son, Dell Hazelwood of Cartersville; his sister, Almer Hazelwood of Cartersville; and his grandchildren, Landi and Kenneth New of Adairsville and Taylor Evans of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at Clear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Harley Gayton, Rev. Donnie Summey, and Rev. Albert Summey officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery in Adairsville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Hazelwood, Rick Hazelwood, Chris Hazelwood, Larry Farmer, Donald Roberts, James Hazelwood, and Emory Hazelwood. Honorary pallbearers will be James Huskins and Junior Hazelwood. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
