David Joe Martin, 85, of Cartersville passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024.
He was born on December 19, 1938, in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Amon Joseph Martin and the late Pauline Lola Donahue Martin.
David grew up in the mountains of West Virginia, in Fairmont, near Rock Lake, a family favorite. After attending Alderson Broaddus University for a short time, he joined the Marines. He then found work in manufacturing and started a family, moving to Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and scuba diver, taking an interest in sporting clays in his later years. He also loved to travel with his family, especially joining his son on motorcycle adventures. David owned and ran two businesses, The Parts House in Kentucky and AMF (Advanced Metal Fabrication) in Georgia, where he retired. He was a talented metal fabricator but enjoyed taking anything apart and working on it. David was a beloved father, husband, uncle, grandfather, and best friend. He leaves behind his family to cherish his memory. David's warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor touched all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Reba J. Martin; son, Matthew A. Martin (Rhonda) of Mexico Beach, FL; daughter, Debbie L. Ward (Ronnie) of Smiths Grove, KY; sister, Sue A. Berman of Fairmont, WV; grandson, Andrew Ward of Bowling Green, KY; granddaughter, Hannah Ward of Bowling Green, KY; niece, Sylvia Berman of Wheeling, WV; and nephew, David Berman of Williamstown, WV.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
