David Mudd

Mr. David Joseph Mudd, age 54, of 13 Birchfield Drive, Rome, GA died Tuesday evening in a Rome hospital.



Mr. Mudd was born in Belleville, IL, on April 21, 1955 the son of Joseph Mudd and Evelyn McCarty Mudd. Mr. Mudd was a 1977 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had worked as an engineer with Georgia Power for over 30 years. Mr. Mudd loved his family and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Robin Mudd in 1988.



Survivors include his wife Melony Tyler Mudd of Rome, Ga; sons, Andrew Mudd, Daniel Mudd and Christopher Durgin; daughter, Stephanie Mudd; grandchild, Cason Durgin; his parents, Joseph and Evelyn Mudd; brother, Stephen Mudd and sisters, Ellen Rankin and Mary Sue Urely.



A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Vic Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Hill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA at 3:00 P.M.



The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
