Mrs. Della M. Witt, age 94, of 1345 Redmond Road, Rome, GA, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, in a local healthcare facility.A long-time resident of the high rise, Mrs. Witt was born in Cherokee County, AL, on July 31, 1911, the daughter of the late Lemuel and Elizabeth Sanford. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of her life and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Prior to retirement Mrs. Witt was a foster grandparent at Northwest Regional Hospital. She enjoyed watching television, especially Gospel Music Homestyle. Mrs. Witt also enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Witt, on May 14, 1984, to whom she was married on December 20, 1933. Also preceding her in death were two step-sons, Leonard and Charles Witt, Jr.; a brother, Ernest Sanford; and two sisters, Ruby Bramblett and Bell Scroggins.Mrs. Witt is survived by several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Johnny Bramblett.Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Witt will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the East View Cemetery with Rev. Jimmie Timms and Mr. J.
