Dennis Gilreath

Dennis Anthony Gilreath, age 48, of Big Texas Valley Community, Rome, Georgia died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at a local medical center.

Mr. Gilreath was born in Floyd County, Georgia on July 6, 1958, the son of Rosa McNew Gilreath and the late Doc Gilreath He became a member of West Rome Baptist Church at the age of 12 years old and attended West Rome High. Mr. Gilreath worked at Darlington School as a locksmith for 22 years. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and camping. Mr. Gilreath loved his family. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Doc Gordon, Jr., Gilreath and Leon Gilreath.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Ferguson Gilreath, to whom he was married August 21, 2002; two sons, David (Ashley) Pickard of Centre, Al and Keith Pickard of Rome; mother, Rosa McNew Gilreath; grandchildren, Brian, Brittany, Brandon, Kayleigh and Kaden Pickard; two sisters, Annette (Jerry) Brown of Marietta, GA and Mattie M. Day of Rome.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilreath will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday at Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Dudley and Deacon Steve Herod officiating. He will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00 am until the service hour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are friends from Darlington School and are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 am, J. J. Beebe, Larry Looney, Kenneth McBee, Edwin Williams, Ted Thompson and Eddie McAlister, a friend from Berry Schools, will also serve as a pallbearer.
