Don Thornton

Mr. Don Thornton, age 59, of Jackson, TN, died Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. after a sudden illness. Mr. Thornton was born in Floyd County on, November 9, 1946, the son of W.C. and Sue Thornton. Don has been a resident of the Jackson, TN area for twenty years retiring in 1997 as the district manger for Cook's Pest Control. Mr. Thornton was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the United States Army.In addition to Mr. Thornton's parents he is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Brenda Thornton of Jackson, TN; three sons, Michael Darby of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Charles Anthony Darby of Birmingham, AL and Jonathan R. "Randy" Darby of Chattanooga, TN; two daughters, Melinda Thornton of Fort Myers, FL and Tammy Ann Walker of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, Michael Thornton of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Rev. David Thornton of Rome, GA; a sister, Sherri Greene of Rome, GA; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Shane, Brandon, Candice, Wayne, Zack, Samantha, Kerrianne, Tony and Stacy and one great-grandchild, Cody.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. David Thornton and Rev. Ed Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.Mr. Thornton will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home by 1:30 P.M.
