It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Monroe Beavers, a treasured husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 89. Donald was born in Acworth, Ga on January 10, 1937, carving a lasting legacy across both his family and community with his kindness and warm spirit.
A lifelong resident of Georgia, Donald was known for his kind heart and his love for engaging with people. As a dedicated letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, he not only delivered mail but also warmed the hearts of everyone on his route for decades. Before serving his community in this way, Donald was a proud member of the United States Army, where he displayed the perseverance and strength that guided him throughout his life.
Donald’s adventurous spirit led him to conquer the formidable challenge of hiking the Appalachian Trail in 1992, relishing every mile of his 2,200-mile trek. He had a profound love for nature and was an enthusiastic deer hunter, finding peace and joy in the serenity of the woods. He had a passion for literature and was an avid reader. A member of several hiking groups, he was an advocate of the outdoors, nurturing a love for wilderness not just within himself, but inspiring others to appreciate the intrinsic beauty of our natural surroundings. He was also formerly active with the Cartersville American Legion.
Donald leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Martha Christine Beavers; his sons Joey Beavers and wife Teresa, and Eric Beavers. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life: Kayla Humphries (Jacob), Alyson Dedman (Max), Ashley Johnson (Wesley), and Jeffrey Beavers (Stephanie). His legacy extends to the next generation through his cherished great-grandchildren, Hunter Humphries, Chase Humphries, Sadie Humphries, Mallory Dedman, and Lane Dedman. He is also survived by his brother Harold Beavers and wife Maxine, and his nephew Mark Beavers and wife Emily.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dewey and Annie Beavers; his sister, Annie Ruth Beavers; and brother, William Ray Beavers.
A memorial service in celebration of Donald’s life and legacy will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, with details to be announced in the near future to family and friends who wish to pay their respects and share in stories of a life well-lived. Parnick Jennings Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Donald Beavers.
Donald Monroe Beavers touched many lives with his warmth and jovial conversations and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace, and may his trails forever lead toward scenic views.
