Donald Byerly

Mr. Donald Eugene Byerly, age 82 of 7271 Rockmart Road, Silver Creek, GA, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 in a Cedartown Nursing facility following an extended illness.Mr. Byerly was born in Richland County, Ohio, March 10, 1922, son of the late Chester F. and Nellie Freeman Byerly but had resided in Floyd County for the past 30 years. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the United States Navy and prior to retirement was a construction worker, specializing in heavy equipment operation. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church, and a member of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion. He loved flying, construction, and motorcycling. Survivors include his wife the former, Ruth Trumpower to whom he was married in 1945; three daughters and sons in law, Victoria & LaDon McDaniel, and Nancy Howard of Rome, Marcia & Rick Leaser of Tampa, Florida, two sons and daughters in law, Douglas & Reba Byerly of New Orleans, Ronald & Lisa Byerly of Carrollton, GA, five sisters; Madaline Crone of Tupelo, Mississippi, Norma Poth and Shirley Kanz both of Mansfield, Ohio, Particia Constance of Lucas, Ohio, Carol Hall of Cairo, GA, two brothers, Robert Byerly of Findley, Ohio and Richard Byerly of Tampa Florida, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. Byerly is being cremated and a memorial service will be held this (Wednesday) evening at 7 PM in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Green and Rev. David Kanz officiating.
