Donald Dover, 61, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Emory University Hospital. Born August 4, 1947, he was a native of Bartow County and was the son of James Henry Dover and Missie Atkinson Dover. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Marcus Bennett, and his nephew, Robert Lowery.
Donald was employed as a security guard at the Booth Western Art Museum for the past five years after retiring from Coca Cola Bottling Company with twenty-nine years of service. He was also a member of Young Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Bennett Dover of Cartersville; his daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and Brian Morris of Adairsville; his granddaughter, Brianna Morris of Adairsville; his parents, Henry and Missie Dover of Kingston; three sisters, Ellen Smith of Cartersville, Helen Barnette of Kingston, and Charlotte Lewis of White; eight brothers, Dillard Dover of Taylorsville, Willard Dover of Taylorsville, Ronald Dover of Cartersville, and David Dover, Freddy Dover and Harold Dover, all of Kingston, Darrel Dover of Fairmount, and Brian Dover of Louisiana; his mother-in-law, Wilma Bennett of Kingston; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Reggie Nation and Rev. Morris Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Wade, Billy Archer, Robert Hyde, Brad Holmes, Scott Templeton, Josh Smith, Brian Groce, and Mark Harris. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
