Donald J. Gilmour, 82, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Sunbridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Cartersville. Born June 25, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late James Watt Gilmour and the late Nellie Smethhurst Gilmour.
Mr. Gilmour was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the close of World War II. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and had served as a part-time Deputy Sheriff with the Volusia County Sheriff�s Department in Florida from 1968 � 1988. Mr. Gilmour was also a member of the American Legion Post #6, the DeLand Moose Lodge, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #92.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Nora and Glenn Holland of Epworth, Georgia and Margaret Crabtree of Burnsville, North Carolina; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Karen Gilmour of Burnsville, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Glenda H. Green, Carrie Taylor, Wendy Gilmour, P.J. Gilmour, and Clint Crabtree; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in DeLand, Florida.
