Donna Jean Osborn Ellis, 71, of Cartersville passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born July 30, 1938 in Rossville, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Brilles Osborn Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Cline Osborn. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Brilles Osborn Jr.; her sister, Sandra Osborn; and her son-in-law, John Roberts.
Donna loved sewing and cooking, flowers, hummingbirds, and trips to the casinos. She also loved her church, Corinth Baptist Church. Donna also very much enjoyed her Cherokee heritage and learning the ways of the Cherokee. Her Cherokee name phonetically was �Wa-Le-Li� which means hummingbird.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Dennis C. �Dick� Ellis Jr.; her children, Donna Ellis Roberts of Cartersville, Leonard Dewayne Ellis and his wife, Brenda, of Topeka, Kansas, Susan Darlene Brown and her husband, Paul, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Derek Christopher Ellis and his wife, Lori, of Topeka, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with one more due in February; her brothers, James Ronald Osborn and his wife, Jan, of Rome and Johnny Edwin �Butch� Osborn of Cartersville; her sisters, Wanda Faye Giles of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Diana Lynn Fish and her husband, Ron, of Smyrna; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 in veterans section of Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Danny Woodruff officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 8 p.m. Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
