Donna Shirley

Mrs. Donna Estelle Shirley, 97, of Griffin, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 8, 2012, at her daughter�s home surrounded by her family. Born in Cherokee County, October 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Belton McPherson and the late Louise Jordan McPherson. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Shirley, Sr.; her sons, Samuel Joseph Shirley, Jr. and Hoyt Shirley; her sisters, Pearl Lowry, Lois Mullis, Jewel Varnadoe, Susie Lifsey and Ann Maddox.



Mrs. Shirley attended Highland Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and traveling.



She is survived by her son, Russell Shirley of Griffin; her daughter, Kathy Graves of Euharlee; her brothers, Grady McPherson of Barnesville and Leroy McPherson of Forsyth; thirty grandchildren; thirty five great-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Peabody officiating. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Park on Dobbins Mill Road in Griffin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Sorrow, Jonathan Stephens, Len West, Frank Shirley, Andrew Graves and Shane Swaney.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 8 p.m., Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home. At other times the family will gather at the residence of Russell Shirley, 618 Seminole Drive, Griffin.



Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, along with Moody Funeral Home, 10170 Hwy 19, Zebulon,Georgia are in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Donna Estelle Shirley.
