Donnie Reeves

Mr. Donnie Joe Reeves of 8 Brandon Lane, Rome passed away at a local medical center Monday, March 19, 2007.

Mr. Reeves was born in Heidelberg, Mississippi on January 24, 1937, the son of the late James Joseph Reeves and Nicie Bell Rushton. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Air Force from September 28, 1956- September 27, 1962. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Reeves was the Assistant Fire Chief at Keesler Air Force Base and also worked for Jeff Davis Jr. College over the maintenance department. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. Mr. Reeves was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Jamie Reeves of Laurel, Mississippi.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Bishop Reeves, to whom he was married May 29, 1993; two daughters, Suzanne (Scott) Miller, Gulfport, Mississippi and Joanna (Destry) Roberts, Gulfport, Mississippi; two sons, Mark Reeves, Biloxi, Mississippi and Chuck (Lisa) Smith of Rome; grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Emily Miller, Jacob Roberts, Jackson Roberts, Ciara Smith, Savanna Smith, Stephen Reeves and David Reeves; three sisters, Eloise Buchanan of Laurel, Mississippi , Elon Smith of Jackson, Mississippi and Elsie Gatlin of Laurel, Mississippi.

The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home tonight (Thursday) from 6 – 7:30 pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev. George W. Adams officiating. Interment will be held Friday in Laurel, Mississippi at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 CST.
Full military honors will be conferred by the Honor Guard from Keefer Air Force Base.
