Donnie Wright

Mr. Donnie Raymon Wright, age 42, of 13 Lake Park Drive, Rome, GA died Tuesday morning, May 8, 2007 at a local medical center.

Mr. Wright was born in Floyd County, Georgia on June 1, 1964, the son of Bernice Vendiver Nichols and R. C. Wright. Prior to retiring, Mr. Wright drove a truck for the Frito-Lay Company. He loved kids and was an AAU Coach and coached for the YMCA and Rome Recreational Center, loved basketball and was an avid sports enthusiast. Mr. Wright attended West Rome High School. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Wright, November 11, 2006.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sherri Simpson Wright, to whom he was married December 16, 1989; one daughter, Haley Wright of Rome; mother and step-father, Bernice and Edward Nichols; father; R.C. Wright; three brothers; Davey (Cheryl) Wright of Rome, Danny Wright and Wesley Gene Wright and April Charles. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Wright and Rev. Scott Lambert officiating. Mr. Randy Turley will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. At other hours the family may be contacted at their respective residences.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers, Barry Simpson, Ricky Rhinehart, Brent Higgins, Richard Bearden, Jesse Cagle, Rick Cagle and Charles Langham. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Saturday.
