Mrs. Dorcus Cochran Branton age 86, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Branton was born in Piedmont, AL on February 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Homer H. Cochran and Mary B. Thackerson Cochran. She retired after twenty-eight years of service from Floyd Medical Center where she worked in the operating room. Mrs. Branton was a member of Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Branton was preceded in death by her husband, Arvol William Branton on October 9, 1993, to whom she was married on April 17, 1940; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Florence Poole Hopper of Calhoun, GA and a brother, Hubert Rogers of Pelham, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 24, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Branton officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
