Doris Mcclanahan

Ms. Doris McClanahan, age 65, of 1085 Radio Springs Rd SW, Rome, GA, passed away Thursday morning, July 1, 2004, in a local hospital.Ms. McClanahan was born in Caldwell County, NC, September 15, 1938. Prior to retiring she was an independent internal auditor. Ms. McClanahan enjoyed writing poetry and writing stories. She won the National Spelling Bee Champion in 1952. Ms. McClanahan was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond David Hall and Frances Leona Coffey.Survivors include one son, David McClanahan of Youngsville, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Donald West of Rome; one grandchild, Ashburn West of Rome; one brother, John Hall of Florida, and one sister, Eunice Younce of North Carolina.
