Mrs. Doris Black Ward, 84, of Cartersville, died Thursday, December 03, 2015 at Cartersville Medical Center.
A native of Bartow County, born March 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Edward W. Black and Rosie Cantrell Black. Doris is a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and loved her Jesus and her church. She enjoyed going to the lake and visiting with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Ward; her son, Michael John Ward; her brother, Wayne Black; and brother-in-law, Ed Martin.
She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Martin; her brother Arthur (Buddy) Black and wife, Jackie; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Black; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with The Reverend Keith Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Mrs. Ward will be carried to the church on Saturday where she will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Martin, Christopher Martin, Billy Martin, Jerome Black, Darrell Black and Jacob Black.
Flowers will be accepted, but for those who wish, donations may be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
