Doris White

Ms. Doris Marie White, age 79, of Rome, GA. died Friday in a Rome healthcare facility.



Ms. White was born in Blount County, AL. on January 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Chester Clyde Freeman and Hester Mattie Bryson Freeman. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Ms. White worked for the Floyd County Board of Education as a paraprofessional and a substitute teacher for thirty-six years.



Survivors include her former husband, Harold White of Centre, AL; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Ruthie White of Marietta, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzette and Mitch Davis of Rome and Summer and Grant Smith of Rome; five grandchildren, Taylor White of Marietta, GA, Rachel White of Marietta, GA, Ally Davis of Rome, Britt Smith of Rome and Bryson Smith of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Edsel and Joyce Freeman of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Iva Lee Williams of Trafford, AL; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Freeman of Birmingham, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Horace Stewart, Rev. Billy Fricks and Rev. Gary Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. On Sunday Ms. White will be carried to the church to lie in state from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.



The family will receive friends Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet as the church Sunday by 2:30 P.M.: Don Williams, Dan Williams, Ted Williams, Roy Williams, Flip Britt, Terry Freeman, Lane Freeman, Carl David White, Steve White and Phil White. The honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Sunday School Class.
