Doris Whitfield

Mrs. Doris G. Whitfield, age 95, of Rome, GA, died Saturday, December 6, 2008.



Mrs. Whitfield was born in Roane County, TN, the daughter of the late Samuel C. Grasham and Amanda Barnes Grasham. She retired as a beautician and prior worked at Celanese Fiber Company. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whitfield, a great-granddaughter, Dasey Maddox; and several brothers and sisters.



Mrs. Whitfield is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Robert �Bob� and Linda Whitfield of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Hubert Moody of Rome; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Connley of San Bernardino, CA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2008, at noon in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home with Dr. John Snipes officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Monday in the Oaknoll Chapel from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 11:30 A.M. on Monday: Matt Maddox, Judson Whitfield, Robbie Whitfield, David Moody, Tony Sarborgh, and Jason Whitfield.
