Dorothy Bennett

Dorothy Bennett, 78, of Cartersville passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Maple Ridge Health Care Center.

Born on May 20, 1941 in Blue Ridge she was the daughter of the late Jessie Hardin and the late Ethel Morris Hardin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley L. Bennett; her brothers, Doyle Hardin, Dennis Hardin, and Deward Hardin; and her sister Dimple Hardin.

Dorothy was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Cartersville and had been employed by Union Carbide until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked in real estate and she made a habit of praying with all of her clients and anybody else who would come by her house. In her spare time, she loved gardening and flowers. Dorothy had a way of "telling it like it is" but was always a loving wife and mother who always had a positive attitude.

Survivors include her, sons, Phil Bennett (Kim), David Bennett (Jane), Michael Bennett (Shelly), Christopher Bennett (Rachel), and Steven Bennett; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dewey Hardin (Laverne), and Daniel Hardin (Lynn); and her sisters, Dolly Turner (Emmett), and Dovie Andrews (David), several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Phillip Bennett and Reverend David Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions in Dorothy's honor to the Alzheimer's Association at www.act.alz.org.

Dorothy's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
