Dorothy Drake

Dorothy Whigham Drake of Troy, Alabama, died Monday, February 6, 2012 in Marietta, Georgia. She was 77 years old. There will be a private celebration of life by the family at a later date. Those wishing to send condolences should mail them to Rev. Ann Mann at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4301 Red Bud Road, Calhoun, GA 30701. These will be shared at the private family memorial.



Dorothy is survived by daughter Karen Cooper of Mobile, daughter and son-in-law Ann and Kim Mann of Marietta, Ga.; and her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Stefanie Drake of Atlanta, Ga.; her grandchildren Matt Cooper, Lynde Mann Hebert and husband Andrew, Bretson Mann, Perry and Ross Drake, Dorothy�s sisters Nettie Reese Cranford and Mary Morgan, and several extended family members.



She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Basil Drake of Troy, and her parents Willie & Clyde Whigham of Enterprise, Alabama.



Dorothy Drake spent her life in service to her family and community. She was a registered nurse serving most recently at Edge Memorial Hospital in Troy before retiring. Her nursing career began at Birmingham Baptist Nursing School (now Samford School of Nursing) and spanned several decades.



The family asks that memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
