Dorothy Jarrett

Mrs. Dorothy Jane Shook Jarrett, 73, of Cartersville went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. A native of Bartow County, born February 14, 1938, Dot was the daughter of the late James Vernie Shook and the late Margie Jane Virginia Roberson Shook.

Mrs. Jarrett was well known around the halls of Cass High School having been there for 30 years before retiring in 1998. She was an active member of Cassville Baptist Church, the Women�s Missionary Union, and volunteered at the Friendship Kitchen. Dot was also active in the Etowah Valley Quilt Guild. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be missed by all those who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Melvin Jarrett; her daughter, Sandra Jarrett Taylor and husband, Crawford Taylor and daughter, Alexandra Elizabeth; her son Jeffery �Jeff� Michael Jarrett and wife, Marianna Anzalone Jarrett, daughter Leah Renee�, and son Theodore �Theo� James; along with her siblings, Betty Bagley, Ruth Waters, Allen Shook and Wayne Shook.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Cassville Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Somers, Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Benny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m., Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at Cassville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cassville Baptist Building Fund, 1663 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Ga. 30121.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Cassville Baptist Church and will include: Stewart Griggs, Walt Pittman, David Hendrix, Jason Wilburn, David Bishop and Seth Arnold.
