Dorothy Roberson

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Looney Roberson, age 83, of 189 South Avery Road, Rome, GA, died February 16, 2007, at her residence.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Roberson was born on August 15, 1923, daughter of the late Samuel Looney and Mary Davis Looney. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church and had been an active participant in The Joy Club and Golden Girls Sunday School Class. She was a devoted homemaker as well as wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents Mrs. Roberson is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Roberson in October 2003; two brothers, Guy Looney and Martin Looney; and a grandson, Michael Akin.
Mrs. Roberson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Nancy Roberson of Rome; two grandchildren, Melissa Akin of Bowdon, GA, and Michael Roberson (Mary Helen) of Adairsville, GA; four great-grandchildren, Rusty and Seth Akin of Bowdon, and Julia and Cothran Roberson both of Adairsville, GA; two sisters, Mary Faith Boyd of Rome and Becky Norwood ( Jack) of Palatka, FL; two brothers, Sammy Looney (Shirley) of Rome and Larry Looney (Cecile) of Zephyrhills, FL; and a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Looney also of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roberson will be held Monday, February 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Dudley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Roberson will lay in-state at Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence at 189 S. Avery Road.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Heyman Hospice, P.O. Box 162, Rome, GA, 30162.
The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers and include Bruce Perry, B.R. Perry, Thomas Holder, Marlin Holder, Doug Gann, Kevin Cawthon, Wayne Randall, Stan Walker, and Bill Loveless.
