Doyle Leon Cole

December 30, 1946 — May 25, 2023

Doyle Leon Cole, age 76, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on May 25, 2023, at his home.

Doyle was born on December 30, 1946, in Acworth, Georgia to the late Renas and Gladys Cole. He is also preceded in death by his brother Buddy Cole, his sister Aileen Blalock, and his beloved Golden Retriever Rocky.

Doyle and his wife Rachel Cole were married on October 12, 1968. During their 54-year marriage, they worked hard and while not always easy, they stood by each other and never gave up. Doyle is survived by his loving wife Rachel; their 3 children Kim Klein, Brian Cole, and Kellie Thornton; 2 sons-in-law Chris Klein and Bryan Thornton; 9 grandchildren, Dylan Thornton, Kaylie Crump (Cody), MacKenzie Thornton (Garrett Griffith), Darren Cole, Ashley Griffin (Mason), Grace Twilley (Asa Windle), Mason Twilley, Kayla Buice (Colt), and William Klein (Caeley); 7 great-grandchildren, Ridley Griffin, Harrison Griffith, Hattie Griffith, Ezra Windle, Luca Twilley, Hensley Buice, and Landon Buice; his brothers Donnie Cole, Ronnie Cole, and Lloyd Cole; as well as his former son-in-law who he thought of as a son, Keith West.

Doyle worked for Shaw Industries for 48 years as a machine mechanic, he could fix anything. He enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years for his high school team. Over the years, his hobbies included playing the guitar in church, fishing, coon hunting, working on cars/rebuilding engines, but his most loved hobby was breeding and raising puppies. He was like a proud papa when he received updates and postcards from people who had adopted one of his puppies.

If Doyle was with us today, he wouldn't want us to share grief and sorrow. Instead, his desire would be to focus on happy memories and joyful times shared over the years.

To summarize who our dad was… The Bible says in Galatians 5: 22-23: Those who are in Christ are distinguished and gifted with the holy Spirit. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. This was Dad! Doyle was the best father, husband, teacher, and friend. His wisdom, advice, and guidance will continue to carry us through the joys and challenges that life has to offer. It's not a goodbye Dad, it's a see you later.

We would like to thank each and every one for your support, love, and prayers. We will be honoring, celebrating, and remembering Doyle Leon Cole, a husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Abernathy, Pastor Marlon Haney, and Pastor Daniel Arrington officiating. A burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home for visitation.

Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Thornton, Dylan Thornton, Darren Cole, Cody Crump, Garrett Griffith, and Lewis Brown.

"Grief never ends… but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith… it is the price of Love."
