Doyle Howard

Doyle Wilkins Howard, 85, of Cartersville, Georgia, sadly passed away at home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

Born on April 20, 1936 in Douglas, Alabama, he was the son of the late James Gifford Howard and Kathleen Boyd Howard. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; Bonnie Freeman, Ronald Howard, Donald Howard, Harold Howard, & James Howard Jr., his nieces Cynthia "Cindy" Gause and Tina McClendon, and his nephew, Gary Freeman.

Doyle was employed as a boiler turbine operator at Georgia Power until his retirement, at which time he was elected as the financial secretary and business manager of IBEW Local 84, where he dutifully served the union for 27 years. He was a life-long member of Shannon Masonic Lodge #100 and a member of the Atco Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Doyle greatly impacted many lives as he and his wife Lawanda fostered over 100 children throughout the course of their marriage. Doyle was a good Christian man, a devoted husband and father, a fierce union leader, and a HUGE Alabama fan.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lawanda Louise Howard, his children; Carla Brock (Clarence), Keith Howard (Angela), Timothy Howard (Brandi), and Kristen Howard, his siblings; Earlene Hutchins (Bobby), Beth Staton, Bobby Howard (Margie), David Howard (Jeanie), Mary Hopper, and Larry Howard (Karen), his grandchildren; Keisha Hall (Mark), Kayla Simpson (Damon), Matthew Brock (Sarah Beth), Grant Howard, and Reese Howard, his great-grandchildren; Taylor Hall and Mason Hall, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A funeral service will be held for Doyle on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. John Lemming "Big John" officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, Ga. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Brock, Damon Simpson, Mark Hall, Mason Hall, Donnie Hutchins, and Keith Beacham. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of IBEW Local 84.
