Earl Hood, Jr.

Mr. Earl M. Hood, Jr., 74, of Cartersville passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Starcrest of Cartersville. A native of Bartow County, born December, 30, 1936 in Kingston, Georgia, he was the son of Louise Pratt Hood and the late Earl M. Hood, Sr. He is preceded in death by his father; his brothers, Phillip D., Melvyn T. and Joel P. Hood.

He was a long time resident of Kingston and Cartersville and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He was of noble character, loved his family and looked to his mother for direction. Earl was one of those people who never met a stranger and enjoyed gardening, singing, cooking and spending time with his large family.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Hood of Cartersville; his nephews, Michael Hood of Dallas, Kevin Hood of Cartersville, Alexander Hood of Atlanta; his niece, Sarah Alice Hood of Atlanta; his sister-in-law, Quinn Hood; his aunt and uncle, Lt. Colonel Bill and Eloise Richardson of Port Charlotte, Florida, his Aunt Margie Hood of Kingston; and several cousins including Capt. David and Ellen Peszko, Joe Pratt and Charlotte Bray; good friends, Eddie Couch and Reverend C. E. Wilkey and extended family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Kingston Cemetery with Reverend C.E. Wilkey officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at Mrs. Louise Hood�s residence at 23 Ridgeview Drive, Cartersville, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Kingston Full Gospel Church, c/o Reverend C.E. Wilkey, Kingston, Georgia 30145.
