Mr. Earl Storey, age 81, of 749 Warren Road, Rome, GA, died Monday, July 14, 2008, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Storey was born in Floyd County, GA, on October 5, 1926, the son of the late A.D. Storey and Hassie Selman Storey. He was a resident of Floyd County all of his life and graduated from Gore High School. Mr. Storey was a member of Armuchee Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board and was a Sunday School Superintendent. Also, he was a teacher of the Young People's Class and the Men's Bible Class. He sang in the choir for fifty years and retired from S.I. Storey Lumber Company. Mr. Storey served in the United States Army during World War II. In addition to his parents Mr. Storey is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Storey.
Mr. Storey is survived by his wife, Geneva Hendrick Storey to whom he was married on June 10, 1949; two nephews; and a niece.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Armuchee Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Clonts and Dr. Paul Camp officiating. Interment will follow in the Armuchee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the Armuchee Baptist Church on Wednesday by 1:30 P.M.: Hal Storey, Kenneth Storey, Hugh Selman, J.F. Selman, Ladell Ayers, and William Burk. The honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Armuchee Baptist Church.
