Mrs. Edna Lucille Matthews, 87, of Cartersville, widow of the late Wilson Mack Matthews, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born February 26, 1926 in Bartow County, she was the daughter of the late Herschel Tidwell and the late Hattie Bunch Tidwell. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Cartersville Congregation. She loved flowers and hummingbirds and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Holmes of Cartersville; sons, Bobby Matthews and his wife Judy of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ricky Matthews and his wife Lisa of Cartersville; brothers, Richard Tidwell and C. L. Tidwell, both of Cartersville; grandchildren, Vicki Elrod, Christopher Matthews, Jeremy Matthews, Tara Garrison, Heather Jones, and Chantell Matthews; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Mark Baur officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Christopher Matthews, Jeremy Matthews, Bob Elrod, Rodney Garrison, Zachary Elrod, and Davis Jones. Noah Matthews and Tyler Elrod will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
