Mr. Edward E. Kaczor, 89, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. Formerly of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, Mr. Kaczor and his wife moved to Cartersville in 2007 to live with their daughter. Born September 4, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John Michael Kaczor and the late Valerie Tabisz Kaczor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jenny Kaczor; his brother, Ted Kaczor; and his son, Gary Kaczor.
Mr. Kaczor was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Atlantic Theatre during World War II. A very proud veteran, he was routinely seen at veterans parades wearing his uniform. He was also a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Post 894 of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. In addition to his military service, Mr. Kaczor had retired as a welder from Allegheny-Ludlum Steel. He was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family. Mr. Kaczor loved dancing and photography and his love for world travel was sparked by his military service.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bertha "Kate" Petrilla Kaczor of Cartersville, Georgia; his children and their spouses, Sandra and Donald Rollinger of Apollo, Pennsylvania, Ronald and Lynn Kazor of Freeport, Pennsylvania, and Pamela Snyder-Hughes and Loren Hughes of Cartersville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Marsha, John and David Rollinger, Christopher and Tanya Kaczor, and Robynn, Daniel and Michael Snyder; his twin great-grandsons, Dominic and Tyler Smith; and his sisters, Rita Marko of San Mateo, California, Emily Klemzak of San Mateo, California, Emma Brown of Yuba City, California, Eileen Moffit of Raytown, Missouri, and Virginia Rivers of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 9 – 11 a.m. and from 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday at Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home in Apollo, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to V.F.W. Post 894 or to the American Heart Association.
