Mrs. Edyth Mae Rush, 96, of Taylorsville passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Cartersville Medical Center after a brief illness. Born June 22, 1912 in Maynard, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Spence and the late Tennessee Luthada Gamel Spence. Mrs. Rush was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Elvis Rush; and her brothers, Onal Spence, Omar Spence, Carson Spence, Herbert Spence, and Willie Spence.
Mrs. Rush was a homemaker in every sense of the word. Her door was always open for whoever needed a home. In addition to her own children, Mrs. Rush raised some of her grandchildren and five of her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was always making clothing for one of her grandchildren. Mrs. Rush was also a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Another incredible accomplishment was her reading completely through the Bible each year. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who love her dearly.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Elvis and Nancy Rush of Taylorsville, William Fred and Nancy Rush of Cleveland, Tennessee, Jerry Gray of Wayne, Michigan, Mary Drew of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Ellen and Jim Farr of Taylor, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren with three more due soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Kingston with Rev. Greg Patterson and Rev. Ted Towns officiating. The family requests that those who wish would fill the church choir to help sing some of Mrs. Rush�s favorite hymns. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Rush, Kevin Rush, Eric Rush, Tommy Drew, Danny Dickerson, and Randy Gray.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
