Elihue Abernathy

Reverend Elihue D. Abernathy, age 91 of White, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, born October 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Grover C. Abernathy and Frankie Abrams Abernathy.
Eilhue was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal. He loved Jesus and his church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and adored his children. Elihue never met a stranger and wanted to be remembered as always being happy and a big cut up. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice (Betty) Elrod Abernathy and a son Jerry Wayne Abernathy.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie Abernathy and wife, Ann, Donnie Abernathy and wife Darlene, Shawn Abernathy and wife Aimee, Patsy Hames, Wanda Williams and husband, David, Lynn Abernathy, Gayle Hazelwood and husband Rodney; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal with The Reverend James Surratt, the Reverend David Temples and The Reverend Eli Carter officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery with The Reverend George Gray officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Shannon Holmes, Shane Abernathy, Christopher Johnson, Randall Abernathy, Ricky Abernathy and Rex Abernathy. Johnny Cox, Michael Gossett and all other great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
