Mrs. Emily "Ruth Ann" Gibson, 72, of Cartersville, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her residence.
Born June 29, 1941 in Cartersville, she was a daughter of the late Albert Whitener, and the late Zona Fields Whitener. Ruth Ann was of the Baptist Faith and loved to design floral arrangements. She was a caring and gentle person who was very straightforward and to the point, and loved her dog, Jolee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Jeffrey Bell, and brothers and sisters, Clarence Edward Whitener, Ernest Harold Whitener, Betty Amanda Whitener Daniel, and Carol Whitener Blaylock.
Survivors include her sons, Mark Everette Gibson and his girlfriend Karen Ballard of Taylorsville, and Charles Aaron Gibson and his wife Denise of Cartersville; brothers, James Weldon Whitener and his wife Joan of Kingston, and Paul Alvin Whitener and his wife Annette of Adairsville; sisters-in-law, Flonnie Whitener, Shelty Whitener, and Martha Whitener; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Donnie Whitener officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
