Emma Self

Emma Nell Self, 79, of Cartersville passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

Born on November 5, 1941 in Euharlee she was the daughter of the late Reverend Ellis Cowart, and the late Ruth Hubbard Cowart.

Known as "Mama Nell" to many; Nell was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. One of her greatest passions was making sure everything was clean. Nell will be remembered as an outstanding singer, piano player, cook, and athlete.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Self; her son, Jeff Self (Mitch); her daughter, Tracy Cowart (Steve); her grandchildren, Ben Self, Brianne Hobbs, Amanda Puckett, Tyler Cowart, Johnny Self, Bailee Self; several great-grandchildren; her brothers, Donald Cowart (Evelyn), Jerry Cowart (Betty); and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Clinton Green and Reverend Josh Cowart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service, visitation will also be at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 93 Pine Grove Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Self, Tyler Cowart, Keith Puckett, Larman Self, Chuck Cowart, and Josh Cowart.
