Eury Strange, 59, passed away at his home in Cartersville on December 19, 2010. He is survived by a brother, Terry and his wife Janet of Cartersville; a sister, Leslie Ann and husband Dobie of Lakeland, Florida; and two nephews, Eric Strange of Tucker, Georgia and Scott McManus of Seattle, Washington.
Born December 10, 1951, in Rolla, Missouri, Mr. Strange spent the larger part of his life in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. In Chattanooga he was a puppet performer with Kids on the Block and a longtime volunteer in the Medical Records Department of Baroness Erlanger Hospital.
Upon moving to Cartersville in 1999 he was employed for several years with the Bartow County Library System. As a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, he served on the Older Adults Committee and was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class and the Sanctuary Choir.
Eury struggled all his life with severe visual and auditory handicaps, but in spite of this, he maintained an active interest in the world around him. He was both a talented musician and a remarkable artist. He was featured as Artist of the Month both at the Cartersville Public Library and at Betty�s Back Porch.
He had many friends who will remember him fondly and admiringly, but most especially these include Laurie McAfee, Mary Berthiaume, Kay Boulier, Connie Harralson, Susan Ingram, and Velma Tilley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deacons� Fund at First Presbyterian Church or to the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church.
