Mrs. Eva W. Fricks, age 86, of 12 Chateau Drive, Rome, GA, a former longtime resident of the Shannon community, died Tuesday evening, September 13, 2005.A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Fricks was born on July 21, 1919, the daughter of the late Levi Virgil Williams and Nancy Sini Bell Blalock Williams. She had lived in Shannon for most of her life and was a member of the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church where she had taught the Joy Sunday School Class for several years and was W.M.U. Director. Prior to retirement in 1984, Mrs. Fricks had been associated with Klpoman Mills. She was always helping others and will be remembered as a "lady of great faith" and a "true Christian" with an humble compassion. Mrs. Fricks was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and for the past year had been a resident of Riverwood Personal Care Home. Mrs. Fricks was preceded in death on November 8, 1994, to Mr. Elbert W. Fricks to whom she was married on February 19, 1938. Also preceding her in death was a grandson, Jeffrey Lyn Fricks, two sisters, Elva Davis and Estelle Minshew, and three brothers, J.D. Williams, Turner Williams and Harry Williams.Mrs. Fricks is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jim Kellogg of Marietta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Emolyn Fricks of Rome; grandchildren, Todd Fricks, Christina (David) Schindler, Melody (Jason) McLeod, and Jennifer (Chad) Carney; great-grandchildren, Noah, Emmett and Olivia Schindler, and Erin and Emmy Carney.Funeral services for Mrs. Fricks will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Jenkins and Rev. Jason Cribb officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Fricks will be carried to the church on Friday to lie in-state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.Mrs. Fricks will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 6 until 8 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at the home of her son, 27 Surrey Trail.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1 Goodman Road, Rome, GA, 30161.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Friday by 1:30 p.m. and include Chris Williams, Tyler Bradshaw, David Sprayberry, Alvin Williams, Blair Fricks and Billy Williams.
