Mrs. Evelyn Ruth "Memaw" Williamon, age 80, of 205 Brookwood Avenue, Rome, GA, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at her residence.Memaw was born in Jacksonville, AL, on September 17, 1923, and had been a resident of Floyd County, GA, for the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. Prior to retirement in the early 1990's, Memaw was associated with Redmond Regional Medical Center in materials management. For a number of years she was employed by Celanese Fibers and also Kitty Care Day Centers. Memaw was devoted to her children and grandchildren and loved shopping, traveling and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was well known for her chocolate cakes she made for Anna' By the River. Memaw will be remembered as a loving, giving person who was always smiling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lizzie Shaw Williamon, and her husband, John Walter Williamon, and a son, Tommy Williamon.Memaw is survived by two daughters, Glenda (Jimmy) Shiflet of Cedartown, GA, Judy (Ronnie) Hopkins of Jefferson, GA; twelve grandchildren, Denise (Jimmy) Lemaster, Cathy (Randy) Duncan, Michael Cooper, Pamela (Ricky) Beech, Kristy (Clay) Hopkins Eubanks, Holly (Chris) Hopkins Aldridge, Ron Hopkins, Tammy Williamon, Terry (Tammy) Williamon, Tim (Deborah) Williamon, Mark (Ana) Williamon and Tommy (Paula) Williamon; nineteen great-grandchildren, Macey Williamon, Kori Williamon, Lance Williamon, Kasey Williamon, Alexis Williamon, Aspen Taylor Williamon, Barbara Armas, Ana Armas, McKay Dickens, Hopkins Aldridge, Max Aldridge, Katie Dunaway, Jason Lemaster, Kristopher Lemaster, Beth Cooper, Kodi Cooper, Emilee Beech, Morgan Beech and Nicholas Beech.Funeral sevices for Memaw will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the Heritage chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Williamon officiating.
