Everett "Fuzz" Cornett, 90, of Cartersville passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Assured Hospice in Carterville.
Born in Cartersville on November 21, 1930 he was the son of the late Elijah Cornett and the late Agnes Meadows Cornett. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Warren Cornett, Henry Cornett, and Wayne Cornett; and his sister, Lilian Bearden.
Fuzz loved his country and served it in the United States Navy; he later went on to work at Goodyear until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time in his "Little House" building things and using his woodworking tools, fishing or listening to gospel music. Fuzz deeply loved his family and always lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Sue Cornett; his children, Denise Arp (Gerald), and Gay Ray (Dennis); his grandchildren, Jason Vaughn, Holly Finnemore (Justin), Andrew Ray (Chelsea), Mara Scofield (Brent), Anna May (Drew), Steve Arp (Ryan), and Stephanie Tiller (Jason); his great-grandchildren, Hadley and Jack Finnemore, Henry and Charlie Scofield, Nora and Sara Ray, and Thomas and Sophia May; and his sisters and brothers, Madeline Sligh, Gayle Payne, James Cornett, Harry Cornett, and Brenda Nix; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home.
Fuzz's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
