Fern Baxter

Mrs. Mary Fern Miles Beard Baxter, age 85, of 72 Hamilton Avenue, NE, Rome died on August 14, 2004 at the residence.Mrs. Baxter was born June 26, 1919 in Perry County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Emery and Mary Ann (Nix) Miles. She worked for Floyd Medical Center for 20years in the emergency room and as Director of Admissions. Mrs. Baxter also worked several years at Rome General Practice. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry A. Beard, a son in-law, Dr. Robert T. Connor, seven brothers and two sisters.Survivors include daughters, Monna June Connor of Rome, Margaret E. Wynn ( Bruce Wynn) of Rome, Kathy L. Beard of Rome and Lou Ann O'Sei (Johnson) of Illinois; grandchildren, Stephanie Connor of Atlanta, Kimberly Temple of Cartersville, Todd Connor of Atlanta, Skip Connor, Clinton Wynn and Bradley Wynn all of Rome; Vann O'Sei and Miles O'Sei both of Illinois; great grandchildren, Sara and Robbie Connor of Rome.A private service will be held for the family.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel today (Tuesday) from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm.Please join the family in honoring Mrs. Baxter's life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com and post your tributes and share your memories.The Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home, 2542 Shorter Avenue, Rome has charge of the services of Mrs. Mary Fern Miles Beard Baxter.
