Florine Hendrix

October 2, 1926 — December 26, 2009

Mrs. Florine Peek Hendrix, age 83, of Rome, GA, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at her residence.



Mrs. Hendrix was born in Floyd County, GA on October 2, 1926, the daughter of the late James Orin Peek and Speyker Lemming Peek. She was a homemaker, worked at Glenwood Elementary School from 1967-1988, and volunteered at Redmond Regional Medical for almost ten years. She was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church for over fifty years and was a member of Bessie Myrick Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hendrix was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed doing puzzles, needle work, and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, Farris Edwin Hendrix; two sisters, Francis Bishop and Mozzell Treglown, and a brother, Nobel Peek.



Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Alice Hendrix of Rome and Kenny Hendrix of Armuchee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Joe Sherby of Rome and Debbie and Bob Vass of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Denice Hendrix Hale of Rome, Greg Jarrett and his wife, Lisa of Cave Spring, Mark Bradfield of Rome, Nicholas Sherby of Lake Charles, LA, Libby Hendrix of Armuchee, Daniel Vass of Montgomery, AL, and Stephanie Vass of Princeton, NJ; great-grandchildren, Kristine Hale of Rome, Kyle Hale of Rome, Kaitlyn Bradfield of Cedartown, Malorie Bradfield of Cedartown, Chloe Jarrett of Cave Spring, Denver Jarrett of Cave Spring, and Maggie Jarrett of Cave Spring; and a sister, Louise Quarles of Warner Robins, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. in the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Cemetery.



The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 1:30 P.M.: Bob Vass, Joe Sherby, Nicholas Sherby, Greg Jarrett, Mark Bradfield, and Don Hendricks.
