Mr. Forest Edward Jackson, age 90, of 4707 Adairsville Road, Shannon, Georgia, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.Mr. Jackson was born in Atco, GA, May 29, 1914, son of the late Horace and Estus Beaver Jackson but had spent the greater part of his life in the Shannon Community. He was a charter member of Brighton Industries and had been associated with Brighton for many years. He was a member of the New Antioch Baptist Church, a member of the Plainville Lodge # 364 F&AM for 28 years and served as Worshipful Master in 1988. He also had been a member of the Scottish Rite since 1981 and was a member of the Gordon and Floyd Counties Low 12 clubs. He attended Model School and was a well known Cabinet maker; he had built all the Masonic furniture for the Plainville Masonic Lodge. In addition to his cabinet making he also was a farmer for over 50 years. He enjoyed making wind chimes and was an avid Braves fan. He was married in to the late Mamie Mullinax Jackson who died giving birth in 1939, and was married in1941 to the mother of his children, Sarah Eva Jane Bynum Jackson who preceded him in death in 1974; in 1975 he married Merle King Jackson and she preceded him in death this year and was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Jackson in 1954. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Sherman, Chester, and Vernon Jackson and a sister, Ona Wallin.Survivors include; four daughters and two sons in law; Roberta and John Caldwell of Rome,GA, Jean and Jim Parks of Shannon,GA, Jane Grantham of Shannon,GA and Evelyn McLendon of Douglasville, GA, step children Mark and Diane King of Canton, GA and Sarah and Ed Johnson of Blairsville, GA, a sister, Christine (Patty) Bartlett of Lafayette, GA, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, five step grandchildren.Funeral services for Mr. Forest Edward Jackson will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at 1pm in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Fuller and J.Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Salmon Cemetery with the Plainville Masonic Lodge # 364 F&AM conducting the gravesite rites. Floral gifts will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital.Mr. Jackson will remain at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8pm.
