Francis Boyd Martin, 83, of Kingston passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Kingston on March 28, 1928 he was the son of the late William Newton Martin and the late Pauline Kennedy Martin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Harvey Martin.
Boyd was a loving husband and father. He served his country in the United States Army and was employed by Lockheed Martin until the time of his retirement. Boyd was a member of Kingston Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking, and farming.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Ima Sherman Martin; his children and their spouses, Paula Martin Cox, Jimmy Martin (Donna), and Marla Martin Metzger (Allen); his grandchildren, Jay Metzger, Phillip Martin, Brooke McDurmon, and Melissa Martin; and his great grandson, Jared Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Kingston Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Garland officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 � 11:00 prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Kingston cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Martin, Jay Metzger, Danny Dobson, Jr., Tommy Jones, Grant McDurmon, and Bardy Abernathy. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church by 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Kingston Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 � 4 p.m. Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
