Mr. Frank E. Shook, age 84, of 2209 Calhoun Rd, Rome, GA, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at his residence.Mr. Shook was born in Bartow County, GA, on September 27, 1920, son of the late John and Mandy Ledford Shook. Mr. Shook spent most of his life in Rome, attended Church of Christ, and retired from Supreme Oil Station. He was a veteran of Word War II having served in the United States Army. He was missing in action three times, received the Purple Heart and was wounded in the head and both legs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shook was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Bailey Shook to whom he was married on March 30, 1946; sisters, Bonnie Roberson and Ruth Baker; brothers, Grady Shook, Vernie Shook, and Marlin "Boss" Shook.Mr. Shook is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Jim Crooker of Rome; son and daughter in law, William and Kay Shook of Rome; grandchildren, Tammy Self of Acworth, Georgia, Melissa Huston of Rome, William Howard Shook Jr. of Boardman, OH, Angela Diaz of Rome, Larry Self, Jr. of Rome, and Christina Holtzclaw of Rome; brother, Bill Shook and sister, Naomi Mulkey both of Cartersville, GA24 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.Funeral Service for Mr. Shook will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 15, 2004 in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rob Harbison officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.Mr. Shook will remain at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M.until 9:00 P.M. and at other hours will be at Lena and Jim Crooker's residence, 844 Wayside Rd, Rome, GA.
