Fred Travis Kennedy, a lifelong resident of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on August 6th, 1940, Fred spent his entire life in the community he loved, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a passion for the things he cherished most.
Fred was a dedicated salesman, devoting much of his life to the buying and selling of old coins and jewelry. This was not just a career for Fred, but a true passion that brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Irish Murphy and Fran Butler, and his special brother, Charles Grier. Fred also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kennedy, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him: Lyn Murphy, Tina Knight (Patrick), Dede Florence (Mark), Ann Marie Vollmar (Dan), Joseph Chapman, Eva Kennedy, and Cassie Kennedy. His great nieces and nephews, Jordan Florence (Wrenn), Max Florence, Murphy Knight, Trinity Knight, Justin Chapman, and Kyle Vollmar, will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Marie Kennedy, his brother Terry Kennedy, sister and brother-in-law Rebecca (Al) Johnson, and brothers-in-law Sammy Butler and Jimmy Murphy.
A visitation will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cartersville, GA, on Saturday, August 15th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. This will be followed by a funeral service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the same location. Fred will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Max Florence, Jordan Florence, Murphy Knight, Trinity Knight, Mark Florence, and Dan Vollmar, who will honor Fred by carrying him to his final resting place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, who have provided compassionate care to Fred and his family during this difficult time.
Fred Travis Kennedy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his dedication to his craft, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
